Karl
Karl originally founded the charity in 2007, and now operates as Trustee and Director of Programmes.
Karl has worked to develop creative and innovative solutions to some of the most difficult social problems faced by young people from disadvantaged communities throughout his career. He has spent over ten years managing national programmes for children and young people, both in the UK and in sub-Saharan Africa; working across Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa and Ghana.
He is currently the CEO for Able Child Africa, an organisation working with partner organisations in sub-Saharan Africa to achieve equal rights for disabled children and young people; and spent three and half years at UpRising, a youth leadership and social mobility charity in the UK, as Director of Programmes and Operations, managing a portfolio of programmes across the UK.
Karl has a speciality in programme development. He has created, developed and/or implemented five development programmes across four countries and for three organisations: UpRising’s Environmental Leadership Programme, and the My Voice My Vote Programme in the UK; Africaid’s WhizzKids United Life Skills Programme in South Africa, Ghana and Uganda; the On-the-Ball life skills programme in the UK; and Uganda Create’s Creative Studies Programme.
Karl has two undergraduate degrees, a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Development and an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy.
